Dead or Alive era uma banda de synth-pop inglesa formada em 1980 em Liverpool. A banda obteve sucesso em meados da década de 1980, lançando sete singles que entraram no Top 40 do Reino Unido e três álbuns no Top 30 do Reino Unido.

Eles foram a primeira banda da equipe de produção de Stock Aitken Waterman a ter o single número um. No auge de seu sucesso, a formação consistia em Pete Burns (vocal), Mike Percy (baixo), Steve Coy (bateria) e Tim Lever (teclados).

Dois dos singles da banda alcançaram o Top 20 dos EUA na Billboard Hot 100 – “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)” (nº 11 em 1985) e “Brand New Lover” (nº 15 em 1986).

“You Spin Me Round” alcançou o número um por duas semanas em 1985 no Reino Unido, depois novamente em 2006 após a aparição de Burns no reality show de televisão Celebrity Big Brother. Também se tornou o primeiro dos dois singles no topo da parada de álbuns da Billboard Hot Dance Club. Em dezembro de 2016, a revista Billboard os classificou como o 96º “artista de dança” mais bem-sucedido de todos os tempos. Até 2017, Dead or Alive havia vendido mais de 30 milhões de álbuns e 28 milhões de singles em todo o mundo. A banda foi descontinuada após a morte de Pete Burns em 2016. E em 4 de março de 2018 morre inesperadamente Steve Coy.
