Primal Scream é uma banda de rock escocesa formada originalmente em 1982 em Glasgow por Bobby Gillespie (vocal) e Jim Beattie. Primal Scream tocou ao vivo de 1982 a 1984, mas sua carreira não decolou até que Gillespie deixou sua posição como baterista do The Jesus and Mary Chain. A banda foi uma parte fundamental da cena indie pop de meados da década de 1980, mas acabou se afastando de seu som jangly, assumindo influências mais psicodélicas e de garage rock, antes de incorporar um elemento de dance music ao seu som com seu álbum de 1991 Screamadelica, que colocou-os no mainstream. A banda continuou a explorar diferentes estilos em álbuns subsequentes, experimentando blues, trip hop e rock industrial.
