Styx /stɪks/ é uma banda de rock americana de Chicago que se formou em 1972 e se tornou famosa por seus álbuns lançados no final dos anos 70 e início dos anos 80.
Eles são mais conhecidos por combinar guitarra hard rock balanceada com violão, sintetizadores misturados com piano acústico, faixas animadas com power baladas, soft rock, e incorporando elementos do teatro musical internacional. A banda estabeleceu-se com um som de rock progressivo nos anos 70, e começou a incorporar elementos do pop rock e soft rock nos anos 80.
Styx é mais conhecido pelos seguintes sucessos que atingiram o Top 10 da Billboard Hot 100: “Lady”, “Come Sail Away”, “Babe”, “The Best of Times”, “Too Much Time on My Hands”, “Mr. Roboto”, “Don’t Let It End” e “Show Me the Way”. Outras canções notáveis incluem “Renegade”, “The Grand Illusion”, “Blue Collar Man”, “Fooling Yourself”, “Rockin’ the Paradise”, “Boat on the River” e “Suite Madame Blue”. Styx teve 4 álbuns consecutivos certificados multi-platina pela RIAA, bem como 16 singles no top 40 singles nos EUA, 8 dos quais atingiram o top 10. Dos seus 8 Top 10 singles, 7 foram escritos e cantados pelo membro fundador e ex-vocalista Dennis DeYoung, incluindo seu top número 1 nas paradas, “Babe”. DeYoung não excursionou com a banda desde 1998, depois de ter sido destituído pelos guitarristas James “JY” Young e Tommy Shaw em uma divisão acrimoniosa.
